LyondellBasell welcomes 49 apprentices

Wesseling, Germany – 49 young people are beginning their professional careers today at LYB in Wesseling-Knapsack. They are starting apprenticeships as chemical production technicians, electronics technicians for automation technology, industrial mechanics, and industrial business management assistants. The apprenticeship typically lasts three and a half years but can be shortened to two and a half years based on prior achievements or performance during the apprenticeship.

The program is in high demand: Over the past ten years, LYB has qualified approximately 520 high school students and dual-study students as skilled workers. Almost all of them were offered permanent positions after successful completion of their training, provided a suitable position was available. This ensures the company has access to qualified young talent and simultaneously strengthens the industrial base in the region. LYB has received an award from the Cologne Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) for the high quality of its training program for the 13th consecutive time. “We invest in technology and in people. Anyone starting with us today learns in a modern industrial environment and develops skills that are crucial for the future of our location,” says Klaus Vollmert, Head of Training and Development at LYB.

The image of the chemical industry is changing. Today, the sector increasingly stands for

innovation, resource conservation, and industrial transformation. LYB is actively driving this change in Germany – among other things, through investments in the circular economy, chemical recycling, and low-carbon solutions. This opens up new perspectives for young people: They learn in an environment that combines modern technology with responsibility for the future.
