Friedrichshafen, Germany — ENGEL will demonstrate the production of a precision liquid silicone rubber seal at Fakuma 2026, showcasing how its electric, tie-bar-less injection molding technology can be used for large, demanding silicone components.
The Austrian injection molding machinery maker said its victory electric 1565/220 will produce the seal during the Oct. 12-16 plastics trade show in Friedrichshafen. The machine has a clamping force of 2,200 kilonewtons and will be equipped with a mold supplied by ACH Solution.
The demonstration is aimed at an application where dimensional accuracy and control of flash are critical. The molded seal measures 484 by 202 by 29 millimeters and is designed for use with an inverter component, where it helps protect sensitive electronics from moisture.
ENGEL said the seal will be produced in a cycle of about 70 seconds using Shin-Etsu’s KEG 2003H-50 A/B two-component liquid silicone rubber. The company says the component has contour tolerances in the hundredths-of-a-millimeter range, while the mold must maintain tolerances down to the thousandth-of-a-millimeter level.
Liquid silicone rubber presents particular challenges for injection molding because its low viscosity can allow material to enter very small gaps in a mold, producing flash. ENGEL said the tie-bar-less design of the victory electric helps address that problem by distributing clamping force more evenly across the mold.
Unlike conventional machines that use tie bars around the mold area, the tie-bar-less design leaves the area around the mold unobstructed. ENGEL says the arrangement can improve mold accessibility and provide greater flexibility for automation and mold design. The company also markets the victory electric for precision and multi-cavity applications.
The Fakuma demonstration combines the machine with an ACH Solution mold using the company’s Servoshot technology. The mold incorporates vacuum-assisted venting and is designed for processing liquid silicone.
After molding, an ENGEL viper 40 robot will remove the finished seal while it is still hot using a custom end-of-arm tool supplied by ACH.
The production cell also will use ENGEL’s iQ weight control software. The system monitors material fluctuations during dosing and automatically compensates for changes that could affect the weight and consistency of molded parts, according to ENGEL.
ENGEL also plans to monitor the material feed pressure as an early indication of changes in viscosity or material quality. The company said the system will issue a warning at 50 bar, giving operators an opportunity to intervene before a process problem develops.
The victory electric 1565/220 is an extension of ENGEL’s electric victory platform. The machine made its public debut at K 2025 producing a thermoplastic application. The company
