Shanghai, China — Lubrizol announced an expanded collaboration with IMCD, a global leader in the distribution and formulation of specialty chemicals and ingredients, to increase access to medical polymer solutions in China. Under the agreement, IMCD will become an authorized distributor for Lubrizol’s medical polymers business in East China.

This collaboration builds on the successful partnership between Lubrizol and IMCD in Europe and North America and extends it to China. It will further improve access to Lubrizol’s medical-grade thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) products, making it easier for global and local medical device manufacturers to obtain high-quality medical-grade TPU material solutions. The agreement was signed during the 2026 International Medical Equipment Design and Technology Exhibition (Medtec China).

China’s medical device industry continues to evolve, while multinational medical device companies further expand their localized R&D and manufacturing operations in China, driving growing demand for high-performance medical materials. As a major hub for medical device innovation and manufacturing, East China is home to a strong ecosystem of medical device companies and R&D capabilities, making the region an important market for advanced medical materials.

Lubrizol is a recognized innovator in medical-grade TPU, offering a well-established portfolio of high-quality medical-grade TPUs for a wide range of healthcare applications, from short-term contact devices to long-term implantable applications. Through this collaboration, Lubrizol will leverage IMCD’s robust customer service capabilities and well-established operational infrastructure to further improve customer access to products and services, while supporting evolving product development and manufacturing needs across the medical device industry.

“This expanded collaboration represents an important step in extending our successful global relationship with IMCD into China and strengthening our local capabilities,” said Jane Cai, Senior Business Director, Lubrizol APAC. “By working more closely with IMCD, we can respond more effectively to customer needs and provide support throughout the product development and commercialization journey, helping our customers bring innovative medical devices to market faster.”
